Two of Australia’s most notorious Bachelor contestants confirmed they had signed on for the US Bachelor spinoff Bachelor In Paradise - but never got to appear on the show thanks to its infamous assault scandal.

Keira Maguire, 31, and Sam Johnston, 27, confirmed to NW magazine that they were meant to take part in the controversial series.

Keira said she had her bags packed and was about to fly to Mexico to shoot the series:

“I had my bags all ready to go, then on Sunday morning, I woke up and literally had five missed calls.”

Bachelor In Paradise was midway through filming its fourth season in Mexico when filming was halted after a producer made allegations of misconduct. Contestants DeMario Jackson, 30, and Corrine Olympios, 24 were named as the parties involved, and investigations are continuing.

Sam Johnston, who was believed to have been dating Bachelor contestant Noni Jamur prior to this revelation, told NW the allegations of sexual misconduct on the show left him blindsided:

“I’m very shocked and surprised (the production company) would blatantly ignore their duty of care.”
