Beyoncé's New Track For The Lion King Is What We All Needed
And her matching outfit with Blue Ivy.
She's done it again.
No not Britney, although have you been following her socials.
We're talking about the real Queen, Queen Beyonce.
Her new song for The Lion King just dropped and it's giving the Bey Hive all the feels.
The powerful track, Spirit, appears in the film, during a pivotal scene with Beyoncé’s character,
Nala and appears on the Walt Disney Records original motion picture soundtrack and on The Lion King: The Gift album from Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records.
The song was written for the film by IIya Salmanzadeh, Timothy McKenzie and Beyoncé and is produced by Beyoncé and IIya and Labrinth.
In a media release from Sony Music Beyonce says:
"This is sonic cinema.
"This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.
“I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline.
“Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation. It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
In the gospel-inspired song, Beyonce sings:
"Spirit, watch the heavens open/ Spirit, can you hear it calling?/ Your destiny is coming close/ Stand up and fight."
Talk about a motivational track.
Not only did Bey drop her song today, she also had jaws dropping over her and daughter Blue Ivy's matching outfits at the world premiere of The Lion King in Los Angeles.
In their custom Alexander McQueen tuxedo dresses, which featured a diamond-encrusted jacket with black tulle skirt attached, the duo owned the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre.
The album The Lion King: The Gift is due for release on 19 July - the same day as The Lion King hits cinemas.
