Harry Styles' fame didn’t land him his role in Dunkirk

Harry Styles is quickly becoming one of our favourite people

You’ll be happy to know that young Harry Styles scored his role in Dunkirk not because he’s arguably in one of the most successful boybands of all time but simply because of his acting chops. How do we know this? Well, it turns out that director Christopher Nolan simply wasn’t aware of Harry’s immense fame. The highly successful director told The Hollywood Reporter that he wasn’t aware just how famous Harry was.

“I don’t think I was that aware really of how famous Harry was. I mean my daughter had talked about him. My kids talked about him, but I wasn’t really that aware of it. So the truth is, I cast Harry because he fit the part wonderfully and truly earned a seat at the table.”

Okay, clearly Christopher never opened a magazine, turned on a radio, or heard about him dating some mega superstars. Like we don’t mean to make you feel bad Chris but one October people made pilgrimages to lay flowers on the side of the road where a very hungover Harold Styles once vomited. So, yeah he’s famous.

We’re actually quite excited that Harry scored the role due to his acting chops. The 23-year-old heartthrob plays a 1940’s British soldier called Alex who is trying to evacuate Dunkirk in France. In a trailer that was dropped last week, Harry Styles finally had a speaking line. And to say people are excited is a bit of an understatement.

Dunkirk hits Australian cinemas on the 20th of July!
