Hugh Jackman Revealed He Was Almost Fired As Wolverine After First X-Men Movie
Things would have been so different.
Hugh Jackman is known for three main things: musical theatre, being a genuinely nice dude, and Wolverine.
His role in the X-Men movies both catapulted and defined his career.
But in shocking news, Hugh just revealed the X-men movies and the face of our favourite angry wolf-human mutant could have been much different because he was almost fired from the franchise after the first film.
Sorry, we need a moment.
Hugh was on stage in London for a performance of Hugh Jackman: The Man, The Music, The Show when he shared the story with the audience.
“I was told that things weren’t really working out as they hoped. I was about to get fired from my first Hollywood movie, the biggest of my career,” he said.
“I was angry, I went home to my wife and I complained. I was whinging an Olympic level [to] Deb, my wife, and moaning about this person and that person.”
He said his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, helped him calm down and focus on how to fix the issue rather than worry about it.
“She listened to me very patiently for about an hour and finally she just said, ‘Listen, I think you have just got to trust yourself. You are worrying way too much about what everyone else is thinking. Just go back to the character, focus on that, trust your instinct. You’ve got this.’”
Well, Hugh’s instinct obviously worked- we got 19 years worth of movies out of him and we're not complaining in the slightest.
