Jameela Jamil Requested She Not Be Airbrushed On The Good Place Posters
The fourth season of Netflix’s The Good Place drops in just over a month.
The promotional poster for the show’s final season has just been dropped in preparation and it features all four favourite characters looking happy and gets us super excited. But the poster has another important feature: no airbrushing.
Jameela Jamil, who plays socialite Tahani on the show, has shared that she requested her body not be air-brushed in the promotional poster. Taking to twitter the actor said:
On Instagram, Jameela added:
“I’m aware this isn’t some huge victory, and [it’s] not “brave” but as someone who had such obsessive body dysmorphia and was so fixated on the embarrassment of what we perceive as “flaws” this is just a little win for little anorexic teenage me.”
The move is empowering not only for Jameela but for all women. Beauty ideals in the media can be hard to come to terms with and sometimes just downright suck. By saying no to Photoshop Jameela has reminded women that not looking perfect is not only okay but normal.
We can definitely get behind that.
The Good Place, which stars Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, and Manny Jacinto, is about a group of people who find themselves in the afterlife that’s much more complicated than they were expecting.
The show’s final and fourth season launches on Netflix on September 26.
