Whitney Houston's BFF Breaks Silence On Their Alleged Romantic Relationship

"Something was happening between us. We never talked about labels..."

You may recognise the name Robyn Crawford - she was one of the closest people to icon Whitney Houston.

The pair were best friends. In the early ‘80s, the two women were also romantic partners. Something neither of the women have officially acknowledged or spoken about.

Until now.

Robyn has written a powerful memoir, titled A Song For You: My Life with Whitney Houston. In the memoir, she details the ins and outs of her relationship with Whitney, seven years after the pop legend tragically died.

"I’d come to the point where I felt the need to stand up for our friendship. And I felt an urgency to stand up and share the woman behind the incredible talent," Robyn explained of her decision to share her story.

On her relationship with Whitney, Robyn writes:

"Something was happening between us. We never talked labels, like lesbian or gay. We just lived our lives, and I hoped it could go on that way forever.”

"We wanted to be together,” she said. “And that meant just us.”

It was Whitney who ultimately decided to end their romantic relationship, due to social pressures and the reputation that came with her newfound global fame.

There has been widespread praise for Robyn, her memoir and her honesty online.

People have also been deeply saddened by the story.

If there's one thing we know about hindsight, it's that its powerful but, obviously, comes too late.
