Seven romantic getaways in Australia to get away from it all
There's nothing like experiencing a luxurious stay with your significant other
We live in a beautiful country, and with it comes plenty of prime locations for luxurious accommodation. Whether it's a glass-panelled retreat nestled in a lush rainforest or a glamping hotel in the forest, Australia has an extensive list of places to spoil your significant other.
We picked seven of the best around the country, just in time for Valentine's Day.
1. The Byron at Byron
Byron Bay, NSW
Surrounded by 45 acres of suptropic rainforest in the sleepy NSW coastal town, The Byron at Byron is perfect for nature-loving couples. The luxury resort is minutes from Tallow Beach, meaning you can alternate between dips in the expansive pool and ones in the ocean.
Until the end of March, the hotel is offering a special 'Life Can Be Perfect' package, which includes two nights in a suite, breakfast, spa treatment, bicycle hire, and bottle of Bollinger Special Cuvee.
2. Crystal Creek Rainforest
Tweed Coast Hinterland, NSW
For the ultimate couples retreat, Crystal Creek Rainforest is the way to go. The private apartments spread across a green, quiet property in the Tweed Coast Hinterland, giving guests a picturesque and secluded environment to unwind with your sweetheart.
With some apartments equipped with a bathtub overlooking canopies of the rainforest and a private infinity pool, a stay here will be an experience you won't soon forget.
3. Paperbark Camping
Jervis Bay, NSW
Glamping is the perfect combination of enjoying the great outdoors, while still getting a five-star treatment. And we have found a perfect glamping spot in NSW south coast's Paperbark Camp.
The accommodation is luxury upon luxury, making it impossible not to feel like royalty during a stay. The camping grounds consist of ten tents, each with a clawfoot tub, toilet, and king-size bed. After a long hot bath in an open bathroom, guests can rug up in white bathrobes and retire on their candle-lit terrace to soak in the never-ending sea of trees.
4. The Berkley River Lodge
Wilderness combined with luxury, creates a flawless holiday, and that is exactly what the Berkley River Lodge intends to do. With luxury villas overlooking coastal dunes and jetting around on river cruises and helicopter flights, the Berkeley River Lodge is complete comfort. Even travelling there is adventure-filled – it's only accessible by a private flight. If that doesn't make you feel like a million bucks, we don't know what will.
5. East Bedarra island Retreat
Bedarra Island, Cairns, QLD
Private views overlooking the Great Barrier Reef? Sign us up.
The East Bedarra Island Retreat is a world-class hideaway which includes an open-air covered lounge deck with 3D cinema (yes, please), and a natural swimming pool and private beach. Seriously, where else can you watch movies, stand on a deck hovering over the Great Barrier Reef, and dive into it whenever you went?
6. StoneTryst Spa Villas
The StoneTryst Spa Villas combine traditional and contemporary. Each villa has a log fire, heated bathroom floors, a Nespresso coffee machine, a lounge and a private deck. And if you want a little bit extra, book the Villa Granito, as it has a private solar-heated pool and a king bed.
7. Seppeltffield Vineyard Cottage
A revival of heritage, this 1860s cottage is perfect for wine-lovers. The Seppeltfield Vineyard Cottage is nestled within vineyards, and there are plenty of vineyard tours and wine tastings you can do. However, with a king sized bed, double shower, rain water bath, wood fire oven, espresso machine, TV and entertainment system, we don’t know when we'd ever leave.
