Do you find this Woolworths sign offensive?
The display has sparked wide online debate!
A sign above a Woollies meat display has sparked debate after a customer called it "disrespectful". The sign reads, "What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef."
Lesley Millward shared the photo of the sign taken at Woolworths in Glenelg in Adelaide and wrote, “What a disrespectful & insensitive bunch who work at Woolworths Glenelg."
While some people agreed with Ms Millward, many others defending the supermarket and shared their own jokes about animals. One person wrote, “What do you call a deer with no eyes? No idea." Someone else added, "What do you call a cow with three legs? Lean beef."
One user defended the supermart and said she was “happy to see your staff have a great sense of humour”.
“Don’t worry about the ‘offended’ people... I think a lot more people would be offended if you took it down! Can’t please everyone. This joke is a golden oldie and I support it.”
Woolworths responded saying they're taking the feedback on board, saying they would "never intentionally offend anyone".
Customers have since bombarded the supermarket's Facebook page asking them to stock more "cruelty-free" vegan products. Soon after there were also posts asking Woolworths to "ban all vegans from your store" because "their constant whining on your Facebook page offends me".
What do you think of the post?
