Outrage As Aldi Product Resold Online For HUGE MarkUp
Aldi shoppers are expressing their disbelief and frustration after a bargain Special Buy was snatched up by opportunistic shoppers and relisted at huge markups.
The popular Lacura Caviar range went on sale as a part of Wednesday's Special Buy sale.
Penned as a dupe for the up-market La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream ($690 for 50ml), Lacura's Caviar range was sure to be a strong seller.
But no one expected it to go this strong.
Aldi fan page @aldiloversau has revealed the products - already sold out in a large number of stores - are being resold online for much, much more than their original prices.
The same account shared an image of the product in-store calling it "the Caviar Craze" and explaining many stores had sold out.
"There were 60y old men buying it by the tray at our store on the Gold Coast this morning at opening," one person commented as another explained that one NSW store was limiting products to one per person.
"That’s because people sell them for 3 times the price on eBay!!! makes me so mad! I wish they would just stock it all year round!" said another.
"Come on Aldi let’s make it fair for everyone."
Nova was able to find upsold products on eBay.au at time of writing including one up to $40 (double the sale price).
Reviewers previously described the product as both "very moisturising without that greasy feeling" and "gliding on like a dream", qualities Aldi say is due to the cream's ‘snow algae’:
"Elasticity improves and radiance restored skin becomes smoother and silkier deeply moisturises, minimising wrinkles for a youthful and radiant appearance," their product description reads.
"In conjunction with caviar extract it contains the revolutionary snow algae extract which stimulates collagen synthesis, effectively counteracting the skin aging process and therefore visible signs of aging."
