Sri Lanka Terror Attack Leaves Over 200 Dead

Horrific news out of Sri Lanka this weekend, with reports emerging about a terror attack hitting a series of locations in the country. 

As news.com.au shares, a total of eight blasts have been reported. It is believed that up to 207 people have been killed and about 450 others have been seriously injured. 

According to the Associated Press, 13 suspects have been taken into custody. 

The explosions took place in a series of hotels and churches on Easter Sunday. The BBC reports that these churches were located in Negombo, Batticaloa and Colombo's Kochchikade district. The outlet states that the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand luxury hotels in the country's capital were also attacked.  

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry has shared that the number of tourists killed in the attacks was at least 27, the AP reports.  

The Sri Lankan government has introduced a national curfew between 6 pm and 6 am in response to the horrific events. Social media websites have also been blocked.
